I am a chef and will be going to work in a Glatt Kosher place. Do I need to get new knives & tools?

Can you answer Jon C’s question about Culinary?:
After 29 years as a chef I have all my own knives and other tools. I understand that in a kosher kitchen, guidelines over utensils are very strict. Would it work if I simply keep the knives I have clean and sanitary (as usual) or should I be ready to fork out a ton of $$$ for new ones?

Culinary Feedback: can’t you just call up the new place you’re going to be working at and see what their policy is? i figure that would be the best option rather than asking middle aged house wives and bored children on these message boards.
Culinary Feedback: There are cleaning and purifying procedures to avoid this, don’t accept the “throw them away automatically”. If in doubt, call an orthodox Rabbi and tell him you cannot afford to buy all new stuff, what to do?
Culinary Feedback: to super_squinks:
and what are you? a middle aged housewife or a bored child?
(i don’t know the answer to the question, i’m sorry. i just am very irritated with super_squinks’ history of being unpleasant to just about everyone who asks a question)
Culinary Feedback: I am 99% sure that you can’t use your old tools cleaned or not. You should check with the resteraunt for sure. Good Luck.
