I know some may be saying, why not just search it yourself?! But, it’s nothing like “hearing from the horse’s mouth”. I want to hear about it from someone with experience.

    Culinary Feedback: The first thing I would suggest is to get a job in a local restaurant. And then see what areas you like best. Some people find they like working behind the line cooking, some people just prefer doing prep, and some people would rather be servers. But anyway, I have been a professional chef for about 10 years now, and I love it. The hours can be very long, and the pay may not be really high, but I have a saying about work. If you are doing a job you love then you are not really ‘working’ at all. As long as you enjoy what you are doing the rest will fall in place. Good luck, and have fun.

    Culinary Feedback: Hi there; you will find that if you choose this field you will be in for long work days and work almost every holiday because when people are off you are working; but at the same time you will find that it has its rewards too..When I was in school my instructor always said” you will always have a job because people have to eat”. As far as the field I like the most in Culinary cooking it is the pastry section..I hope that you really look into this very carefully and make sure this what you want to do; so you don’t spend a lot of money on a school and not get what you want out of it ..Good Luck with you decision…

    Culinary Feedback: Ive cooked in restaurants for about 8yrs, i learned by just doing it, but if i were to go into doing a culinary arts degree of some kind, i would most likely go into some kind of restaurant management, where the money is, because depending on the restaurant you work at your most likely have to cook sometimes when things get really busy and crazy, and you’d progress far in management if your good at it. If you are in a chain type of business, you may even become an area manager etc etc.
